Religion and Values

At Sirius College, Religion and Values (R&V) classes are taught from years 7 to 10. Throughout our R&V classes we aspire that our students embrace a love for Islam and our cultural traditions in their daily life. Our program introduces various topics from the essentials of faith and Islam, to the lives of the noble Prophets, the contributions of Islam to contemporary society and even other notable world religions. These programs are stimulated with dua’a memorization and an analytical study of Islamic law. Over time, our students build a strong Islamic foundation with an emphasis on principles, universal values and morals from the Holy Qur’an.

R&V is a vital subject for the mental and spiritual development of our students. In 2017, our students will be having various incursions and excursions, from a mosque visit for year 7's and 8's, to the Islamic Museum for year 9's and visits to other religious places of worship (temple, synagogue & cathedral) for year 10's.

Although R&V isn't a VCE subject in Victoria, at Sirius College the students were offered a subject titled Texts and Traditions which focuses on the analysis and commentary of specific religions and their holy scriptures, in our school's case it was (Islam and the Holy Qur'an). We would like to congratulate the first student in Sirius College history to receive a 40+ study score in this subject since its inception, Khalid Ibrahim, who received a study score of 40. We wish him the best in his future endeavours.
